Get ready for Halloween 2026: how to decorate for spooky season
We cannot believe how fast September is going. In fact, these last months of the year always seem to fly by, don't you think? And as this month seems to be speeding up, we've noticed some spiders creeping inside and a few whispers of magic that seem to be settling in the shop... spooky season is approaching. If you love Halloween as much as we do, then here are a few ways you can fully embrace it and get your home ready for it.
Set the scene for Halloween with Emma Bridgewater
With plump pumpkins ripe for the picking, mysterious black cats and witches dancing whilst casting spells and incantations, the Emma Bridgewater Halloween 2026 collection is one that will certainly set the scene for spooky season. These pieces always go really well with the blue star and black toast designs if you're a collector, but if you're just looking for a one-off item to celebrate this time of year then that works too. Treat yourself to one of the Halloween mugs such as the hocus pocus one to sip a hot drink from whilst watching the film, or choose one of the bowls to add to a party display and fill with treats. Even the napkins are a great way of adding an instantaneous dash of Halloween magic to any party table on a budget, ranging from £3.75-£4.00 per pack.
Conjure up your very own spooky scents
We're all aware of how powerful a scent smell is, so it's probably of no surprise to you that we're going to suggest some sort of scent for your home next. If you're not a fan of candles, then potpourri can be just as effective. Plus, there is something quite mindful about creating a natural one. It's easy to find recipes, we found a simple one on Countryfiles website. Though we do love the idea of picking up pine cones and throwing them into an autumnal-looking bowl either just as they are or with some cinnamon sticks and dried orange slices (which could then be used throughout autumn and into winter too).
If you are a fan of a candle, then we can help with that too! We stock a gorgeous selection of candles, from beautifully coloured dinner candles to stick on your mantlepiece and bring a whimsical and slight witchy vibe to spooky season, to scented candles like the inspiritus tea lights from St Eval that give off a lightly spiced, warming scent. Perfect to accompany pumpkin carving, horror film watching and trick-or-treat waiting.
Boo-tiful Halloween Jellies
Jellycat needs no introduction here, but if you weren't already aware, their Halloween collections are always pretty iconic, and this year was no exception. Whether you're in need of a special treat for a boo basket, or just can't resist popping one of them on a shelf for a spooky-but-cute decoration, these Jellies are certainly eerie-sistible. They're also the perfect companions for Halloween party fun or for hiding behind during scary films.
We still have a few more freaky friends to arrive in time for Halloween, including some Legami products that would be perfect for party bags or boo baskets, so stay tuned on our socials to see those. We hope you have a cosy autumn and a terribly fun spooky season too!
