Welcoming in the 'ber' months
Welcoming in the 'ber' months
We're publishing this blog post on Sunday 30th August, a couple of days before the start of September and with it, the start of the 'ber' months (see here for definition). For many of us, September in particular can feel a little like a second New Year, perhaps because of the start of a new season, or maybe it's just that we never grew out of that back to school feeling. Whatever it may be, we are indeed looking forward to the new season. So this week, although we will also be enjoying one last celebration of summer on the bank holiday weekend, we're also going to get ready for the beginning of autumn.
Getting the home ready for autumn
One of our favourite things to do at this time of year is to start storing away any summery homeware and replace it with pieces that feel more autumnal. Whether that's as simple as a seasonal candle, a pretty bowl with pine cones or pot pourri in, decorative pumpkins, or bringing that Emma Bridgewater Halloween mug to the front of the cupboard. It's these small changes that can work such magic in making your home feel more cosy ahead of autumn and winter.

Ready to wrap up with Powder
In case you missed it, last weeks blog post went through all of the autumn/winter 2026 goodies that have recently arrived from the gorgeous Powder. There are gloves galore and the cosiest of socks to see us through the colder months and we'd be lying if we said it didn't get us excited for them.

Cosy books for cosy season
Now for what to do in the autumn. As it is a time that often involves a bit more indoor activities, we'd recommend a good book to snuggle down with. But not just any old book, why not give yourself a challenge with one of our quiz books? Or enjoy a mindful moment through one of our new sticker therapy books. Or even embrace your artistic side with one of our art books! The 'ber' months are a perfect time to embrace these cosy activities.

Preparing for next year
Yes, you read that right. We've started making preparations for next year in the form of new diaries and calendars that have recently arrived. But they are selling already, some have even sold out! It's just nice to be organised sometimes isn't it? You don't have to fill it out yet, although we don't know about you but we've already got dates for next year.

Calling all Christmas early birds!
Now speaking of being organised, we've also got most of our Christmas cards in stock and available to buy now. Plus our advent calendars. And again, they're already selling! But don't worry, we're not launching into full festive mode just yet, we just wanted to give the organised folk among us a heads up as we know you like to get them bought nice and early. And that's all we'll say on Christmas, for now...

So, are you feeling a little more ready for the new season yet? Or maybe you don't want to think about it right now and enjoy the last of summer, we get it. But if you do fancy getting a bit more into cosy mode, check out our autumn edit on our website. And we'll see you in the 'ber months'.
