The Daisy Park candle guide
The Daisy Park candle guide
Hello October, we're pleased to see you. Although we're a little bit in shock about where on Earth September went, we're feeling ready for autumn to really start. Some of the joys that come with October include crunchy leaves, darker evenings, soups galore and the start of candle season. I think we can all agree that autumn is when we really start to appreciate the warm glow of a candle. So we're dedicating this weeks blog post to just that.
Candle care with St Eval
First and foremost, it's important to look after your candles. So before you go ahead and light that new one you just bought, read this for a quick run down on how to look after your candle and how to stop it from tunnelling (yes, there is a way to prevent that!). And for this, we have to hand over to our resident experts: St Eval. They go into great detail on how to look after their candles on their own website so do go and check that out for more in-depth info, but for now we'll summarise the main things you need to know.
- Never leave a candle unattended, or around children or pets. It sort of goes without saying but it's always good to be reminded, right?
- For their candles, St Eval recommends burning them for 3-4 hours at a time to achieve optimum burn and to ensure they last for as long as they can. For tealights, that timeframe is 1-2 hours.
- St Eval also state that there should be an even pool of liquid covering the entire surface of the candle before you extinguish it.
- Once again, perhaps this is obvious but always remember to put the tinned candles on a heat proof surface.
Other than that, the general rules apply such as keeping the candle clean and dust free, making sure there are no objects in there, etc. And once again, do be sure to check out St Evals website for much more info and guidance! And in the meantime, you can find a great selection of their gorgeous candles right here on our own website. They really are such excellent candles, made even better with the knowledge that they're all-natural. We've just this week received the Christmas collection and we're so excited, the shop smells glorious. They're the best Christmas candles ever in our opinion.
Fabulously fun dinner candles
If you're not as much of a fan of scented candles or prefer the look of a more traditional dinner candle, then we can help you with that too. True Grace or Florrie and Wren are our main providers of dinner candles nowadays, mostly because they are our favourites. As you know, we LOVE colour, and these two brands embody that same love in their products. These candles are spot on for adding a pop of colour to any space, whilst still bringing some traditional warmth when lit. If you're a fan of dopamine decorating, then you'll certainly be a fan of these fabulous candles.
Relight that fire - matches
Need something to light your candles with? Look no further than our selection of utterly gorgeous yet completely practical matches. We've just had some beautiful new tinned matches arrive from Roomytown, or we've got our trusty boxed matches that seem to last forever. There is something so ritualistic and comforting about lighting a candle with a match, almost like you've been transported back to the olden days for 30 seconds. Pure bliss.
We hope you've enjoyed our blog post all about candles and candle safety. We pride ourselves on stocking really high quality candles and matches, and as long as you're looking after them (and you!), then you can sit back, relax, and enjoy.
