Cosy recipes to end summer with
Blackberries are so often seen as an Autumnal fruit, and although that season is on the way, they are in fact, often out in full ripeness by mid August. And that's certainly what we've noticed here in Devon. These beautiful little fruits have decorated our country lanes up and down the country, and we've already start picking them.
But what to do with them? A blackberry crumble is practically a must in our opinion, but it's also nice to try new things. Last year, Emma Bridgewater posted a wonderful blog post covering 5 ways to enjoy blackberries, and it's inspired us. From a classic blackberry jam and crumble, to a divine-sounding frangipane tart, each recipe sounds like a real treat and perfect for enjoying in your blackberry pottery as summer draws to a close and Autumn slowly makes it's arrival.
As for vegetables at this time of year, try this honey-roasted beetroot and carrot recipe from BBC Good Food that you could use either to accompany a main meal, or to be a base for a warm salad that welcomes the beginnings of Autumn with open arms whilst still feeling fresh for the summer.
We love being inspired by the Emma Bridgewater fruits and veg garden designs (if you couldn't tell). There is something so pleasing about enjoying a homemade dish in pottery to match it. And if you're noticing a slight Autumnal theme in this blog post, then yes, you've guessed right in telling that we're getting excited for the new season (it is one of our favourites after all). So stay tuned for more Autumnal content coming very soon, and in the meantime, click here to shop our Emma Bridgewater fruit and veg collections.
Enjoy the rest of your summer and the bank holiday. xx
