Watch time flow by with this beautiful, classic and unique hourglass. The bobbin ends holding this hour glass are about 85 years old, and originally used to spin tyre cord for Morris cars at Oxford Mill, Rochdale, near Manchester. The struts are Universal bobbins and are older and come from Rushworths Mill in Colne. They originally held yarn in a Lancashire loom shuttle weaving cotton cloth.
The inner surface of the bobbin is usually lined with a hard fruit wood, often Italian cherry. Being a smooth wood it didn't snag the yarn.
